About

The Association of English-language Publishers of Quebec (Association des éditeurs de langue anglaise du Québec) represents a wide-ranging community of publishers. Members include publishers of scholarly and historical works, poetry, fiction, graphic novels and comics, language instruction, travel guides, and children’s literature.

We support and promote the broad spectrum of books published in English in Quebec through a variety of initiatives and projects, including professional development seminars, advocacy, and the Montreal Review of Books.  The mRb is published three times a year, showcasing a variety of books written and/or published in Quebec through intelligent, in-depth reviews, features, and interviews.

We are a regional affiliate of the Association of Canadian Publishers, a national network association of assistance and advocacy for Canadian publishers. A key emphasis is on publishing policy and government legislation.

Before you submit a manuscript to a publisher, please see AELAQ’s Tips For Writers. For more resources related to writing and publishing, click here.

AELAQ’s offices are located in Montreal, known as Tiotia’ke in the Kanien’keha:ka language and Mooniyang in the language of the Anishinaabe. The association represents a diverse community who live and work on the territories of many Indigenous peoples, including the Kanien’keha:ka, Abenaki, Anishinaabe, and Huron-Wendat. As an organization representing publishers, we acknowledge the first storytellers of these lands. We strive to change the way we read and listen, in order to move toward a more equitable future for books and writers.

If you are a Quebec-based English-language publisher and are interested in AELAQ membership, please write to us at admin at aelaq dot org.
