Dive into local lit with Kathleen Winter
This free, two-day celebration of Quebec English-language books is back! The Holiday Pop-Up Book Fair encourages booklovers of all ages and interests to browse, buy and get books signed, just in time for holiday gift-giving. With publishers and authors on hand, expect hundreds of new titles for sale, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, books for kids, award-winners and bestsellers.
Highlights:
Festive Wine and Cheese, Saturday Nov 25, 4-6 p.m., with Kathleen Winter. Come meet Governor General’s Literary Award-shortlisted author Kathleen Winter at the Book Fair wine and cheese, and help us raise a glass to local lit! Sponsored by Penguin Random House Canada.
Tundra Books 50th Anniversary Celebration, Saturday Nov 25, 4-6 p.m. During our wine & cheese, fair-goers of all ages will have the chance to toast the 50th anniversary of Tundra Books, publisher of Roch Carrier’s iconic The Hockey Sweater. Now based in Toronto, Tundra was founded by Westmounter May Cutler, the first woman publisher of kids’ books in Canada. Birthday cake will be served! Sponsored by Babar Books.
Rapid-Fire Reading, Ricochet Writing: mRbilia Edition, Sunday Nov 26, 2-3 p.m. 20 writers celebrate 20 years of the Montreal Review of Books in a fast-paced reading and writing bonanza! Le Café is located on the ground floor of the Monument-National and is wheelchair-accessible. There are separate multi-stall male and female washrooms, and a single-stall gender-neutral wheelchair-accessible washroom.
Le Café is a short walk from metro Saint-Laurent and Place d’Armes and is on the #55 bus line. Parking is available behind the SAT, and at Place Desjardins.
